Lately, for no apparent reason, Scamper has taken to leaving us a notice that she has been in. It started a few weeks ago. No idea what it means in cat terms, but she comes in, eats as usual, wanders around if she is going to–and then goes back to the exit door. Before leaving, she grabs the rug and wads it up. Sometimes, we get up in the morning and that rug looks like she tried to dig to China under it. Other times, just the corner is scrunched, but most of the time, if she’s been in, she rolls around on/under it, grabs the bottom with two paws, the top with the other two and wads it up.

Maybe it’s her way of keeping us from closing the inside door. It’s darn near impossible to close the door when the rug is piled into Mount Scamper was here.

That rug has been here since we “adopted” Scamper. Nothing has changed except that she suddenly acts like it’s a giant catnip toy. She ignores the other rugs in the house, with the exception of the one I had under my plant cart. One morning when the cart was off to the side, she wadded the rug up nicely and half stuffed it under the cart.

What in the world is that cat thinking???
